Short DC interlude

We finally returned to the States in mid-April. We had about 4 days in Portland to prep for our Western States road trip and week in the Grand Canyon. Pelle spent the time busily recovering our personal belongings from a storage unit in Portland, sorting through a mountain of mail and starting to collect our equipment for our road trip. Denise took a 3-night jaunt to Washington DC for a personal interview with Michelle and Barack Obama. Yeah, right.

She actually attended a leadership training retreat for the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS). Denise will serve as President of the Oregon Chapter of SMPS starting the fall of 2009, so she needs all the help and advice she can get! She also found time to meet her Dad for breakfast and beautiful day at Mount Vernon, as well as one of her sisters and nieces for a sunny walking tour of Old Towne Alexandria. Overcoming 14 hours of jetlag was tough, but catching up with family and meeting new colleagues and friends was well worth the whirlwind trip!

We also celebrated the impending arrival of a little someone with friends who are expecting any day now. We hope we are back in Portland before he decides to be born!
