We were incredibly excited to move onto our next destination – Argentina! Good friends from Portland were meeting us in Buenos Aires and we knew this city of meats, wines, tango and a blend of Italian and South American cultures would not disappoint. It did not. (It also came with a surprising amount of dog poop on sidewalks – you are now forewarned!)
Staying in the chic neighborhood of Palermo, we could basically walk and subway everywhere and so we did. With daily step counts above 10,000, we were free to taste every kind of empanada, cured meat, grilled meat, local beer, fernet cocktail, and wine we found. There may also have been some ice cream. There were definitely many laughs.
We hit the usual sites, but the highlight was our asado grilling adventure with Frank at his beautiful house. He showed us street art and great shops around his hood before settling into his back yard to make our afternoon feast. Oh, how we ate. Too much. Then it was a lesson on mate.
