Gorgeous tropical butterfly park

The weekend after we arrived in Penang, P & I stayed in Batu Ferringhi, about a half-hour to the west of our hotel on Guerney Drive (G Hotel, which was pretty lush).  BF is a strip of big hotels set along the white, sandy beaches of the northwestern coast of the island. Needless to say, we did a lot of reading, dozing in the shade and relaxing by the pool of the Park Royal Hotel.

In addition to hitting the lively and tasty food hawker stalls and cruising the night market, we spent a morning at the nearby butterfly park. Not 3 minutes in, a butterfly landed on P. Then one landed on me. Our unique mix of sunblock, lotion and deodorant made us quite popular the rest of the day with the gorgeous array of butterflies and moths.
Happily, the creepier of the crawlies were safely behind plexiglass.

This guy was one of my favorites. When perfectly still amongst leaves and twigs, he looked just like a dead leaf. But when he opened his wings, a shimmery blue and orange pattern made him one of the most striking butterflies in the park.

If you can find the frog in this picture, you'll see his obvious, 'What you talkin'bout, Willis?!' expression.
