Chilling at the Tanjung Rhu beach

After our two nights in Langkawi, we switched hotels. Our wallets were happier and we could explore a new area. Unfortunately, some weird software glitch had overbooked the new hotel, so we were met at the boat launch (the new place is located on a small island off to the side of the main island) and told that they were terribly sorry, but they could not accommodate us...What the ?? But the manager was very anxious for our happiness, so he had booked us into another resort on the opposite side of Langkawi. Breakfast would be included...The room would have a sea view...Transport back to the airport would be free...Would we mind? Uh, no, not at all. And thanks!
So we hopped in the van with another displaced couple and off we went to this mysterious new place. We were not disappointed; the photo at left was actually the view from our room. The breakfast buffet (which can be a full contact sport here if you take the last pain au chocolat) was vast and food prices for dinner were not overly expensive.

We kayaked around the quiet bay, snorkeling a bit and watching sea otter play. We enjoyed the sun and views to Thailand and relaxed by the pool. The resort also made a big deal over Valentine's Day, so we watched the intense preparations for a strenuously romantic set dinner served to many guests on the veranda.

It was a lovely end to our first island getaway in Malaysia. We cannot wait for the next!
